About TOP Center

   The NTHU THz Optics & Photonics Center is formally established under the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2019. Currently, we have five technical groups, including Laser & Nonlinear Optics, Optoelectronics, Ultra-fast Electronics, Vacuum Electronics and THz system & application. Our members are from diverse disciplines across the NTHU campus, as well as from neighbor research institutes.

   Terahertz Optics and Photonics Center (TOP Center) boasts the most formidable team of terahertz optoelectronics researchers in Taiwan. Our research encompasses a wide array of terahertz-related fields, including, but not limited to, optics, electronics, electrodynamics, ultrafast optics, quantum materials, nano-fabrication, advanced packaging, high-speed communacations, computational imaging, and biochemical charcterization.

   With an exceptional team from National Tsing Hua University, the most comprehensive research equipment inventory in Taiwan, and unwavering support from key stakeholders in the industry, government, and academia, such as Hsinchu Science Park, Industial Technology Research Institute, and Taiwan Semiconductor Research Center, we are pursuing our mission to establish ourselves as a world-class terahertz research center.

   At TOP Center, we are dedicated to the real-world application development of terahertz devices, high-speed communication systems, precision laser machining, industrial inspection, biomedical examinations, synchrotron radiation, free electron lasers, and high-energy lasers. Our commitment extends to enriching society and advancing industry through the cultivation of high-end research and development talents.

    本中心擁有全國陣容最堅強的太赫茲(兆赫)光電研究學者，研究領域橫跨光學、電子學、電動力學、超快光學、量子材料、微奈米製程、先進封裝、高速通訊、計算攝影學、生化研究等太赫茲相關應用領域。

    本中心坐擁清華大學優秀團隊、全台最完整研究設備、來自產官學界堅實支持（新竹科學園區、工研院、台灣半導體研究中心等），目標成為世界一流太赫茲光電研究中心。

    本中心致力於太赫茲關鍵器件、高速通訊系統、精密雷射加工、工業非破壞性檢測、生技光電檢測、生醫影像、同步輻射、自由電子雷射、高能雷射領域的研究，對社會及產業的貢獻培育高階研發人才。
