(Si/Ge/Sn) optoelectronics/Nanophotonics/Microfluidic photonics

Short Bio:

Prof. Lee received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of California at Los Angeles in 2005. From 1996 to 1998, he worked in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) as a supervisor in Manufacturing Dept. of Fab. V. In 2005, he joined the faculty of the Institute of Photonics Technologies and Dept. of Electrical Engineering in National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) until the present. From 2016 to 2018, He was also appointed as a joint R&D director in Intelligent Application Micro Systems Division, EOSRL, ITRI. Prof. Lee’s research interests include photonic MEMS, linear and nonlinear silicon photonics, high-speed Group IV optoelectronics, nanophotonics, optomechanics and microfludic photonics. He conducted pioneering research in MEMS-actuated reconfigurable Si photonics. Since then, he devoted himself to Group IV based integrated photonics and optoelectronics. His lab is recognized as one of the key research groups in developing Si photonics in Taiwan. He has authors and coauthors over 100 journal and conference papers, including 2 invited book chapters, and holds 15 patents in Taiwan and US. Prof. Lee is a senior member of IEEE, and Optical Society of America (OSA). He received National Tsing Hua University Young Researcher Award in 2010, The 12th Far Eastern Y. Z. Hsu Science and Technology Paper Award and The Young Optoelectronic Researcher Award in Taiwan. He served in the program committees of technical conferences, including CLEO, WOCC, CLEO Pacific Rim, IEEE Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics.
