Short Bio:

Prof.Ta-Jen Yen is a professor in the department of materials science and engineering at National Tsing Hua University. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from University of California, Los Angeles. He specialized in metamaterials, nanomaterials, nano biomedical engineering and nanophotonics. In 2004, Prof.Yen was the first to realize artificial metamaterials in the terahertz region. Demonstrating a negative permeability and negative refractive index in the teraherz region. This work was published in Science and has been cited more than 1200 times. The results of his research team were published on more than 30 SCI journals in the past five years. Including journals like Advanced Materials and Nano Letters. He is also active in international conferences, co-chairing SPP8 and ICNP 2016 and invited to countless conference talks. He is currently vice president for global affairs at National Tsing Hua University, senior member of SPIE, director of MRS-T and on the editorial board of Scientific Reports.
